What support and training do I get post approval?

Once you are approved as a Foster Carer, you will be assigned your own dedicated Supervising Social Worker who will support you in all aspects of the fostering role and attend meetings with you.

Your Supervising Social Worker is available to answer any questions via phone and email and, in the main, you will have a supervision session with them once a month or more frequently if needed.

All fostering agencies in the UK have a requirement to provide support 24/7 so there is always an out of hours service with a qualified Social Worker available to discuss any emergency matters.

Once you are approved there is a requirement to complete further training which can be a combination of online training and face to face training in groups at your fostering organisations premises. You will be provided with this information by your fostering organisation.

Foster Carers within most fostering organisations support each other and have regular ‘meet ups’ in local areas which you will be able to join.
